Reflections over Resolutions

I don’t know about you, but I am one to get pretty excited about the opportunities a new year brings! With 2021 coming to a close and 2022 beginning there is plenty of discussion around New Year’s Resolutions, goals, and “raising bars.” However, I have noticed the idea of REFLECTION being skipped and pushed past just like our avoidance of many other things in life.

If you are having difficulty committing and sticking to New Year’s resolutions, maybe it’s time you change your pattern before moving forward in the new year. Taking time to reflect does not have to be as painful as you are making it out to be. When we reflect, we often process through the things that no longer serve us to make room for new growth and a clearer vision for what is ahead.

BEFORE YOU SET YOURSELF UP WITH RESOLUTIONS AND GOALS FOR 2022, WHY NOT REFLECT ON WHAT WORKED AND WHAT DIDN’T WORK FOR YOU IN 2021?

Here are a few suggestions on how to approach reflection & set yourself up for success in the New Year!

1.    Schedule a SET TIME to process & reflect on the past year.

2.    Find a place of silence and solitude so you can quiet your mind & fully focus on reflection.

3.    Organize your thoughts through JOURNALING. Putting pen to paper is the best way to let go of the things that no longer serve you and can be a healthy release for those holding on to negative feelings & emotions.

4.    Get HONEST with yourself – We all lie to ourselves to avoid feeling bad so we never make progress. This pattern is TOXIC & perpetuates the cycle of manipulation and lying. Call yourself out & decide to make that change.

5.    Stop with EXCUSES so you can become CLEAR on your vision. Reflect on where you are currently, where your path is headed, and what lessons you’ve learned in 2021 that helped or hurt that vision.

6.    Identify and consolidate valuable lessons you learned this year to propel yourself into next year.
